At St.Francis Moto Hope Center and Academy we endeavor to provide our students with holistic education and ensure that they attain academic excellence. Our students are divided into three schools: Pre-School, Primary School (Lower Primary & Upper Primary), and Junior Secondary School.
1. Pre-School
The children go through two years of pre-school. They learn from activities other than theory and engage in digital literacy. They cover the content in the following subjects: Environmental Activities, Language Activities, Psycho-motor and Creative Activities, Mathematical Activities, and Religious Education Activities. In addition, we offer these young learners an exciting assortment of early childhood programs which facilitate their intellectual growth and promote positive social behavior.
2. Lower Primary (CBC Grade 1,2 and 3)
After two years in pre-primary, learners join lower primary (grade 1, grade 2, and grade3). The minimum age to join grade one is 6 years. The learners start the primary curriculum that is offered by our dedicated and highly qualified teaching staff.ICT is integrated at all levels and in all subjects. Emerging and contemporary issues are also integrated.
Activities covered include Mathematical Activities, Literacy, English Language Activities, Hygiene, and Nutrition Activities, Kiswahili Language Activities/Kenya Sign Language for learners who are deaf, Indigenous Language Activities, Religious Education Activities, Environmental Activities, Movement, and Creative Activities.
Their potential inside and outside class is fully exploited and their talents discovered. They are more engaged in co-curricular activities, Clubs & Societies, music, and drama.
3. Upper Primary (CBC Grade 4,5 and 6)
Three years after Lower Primary, learners join upper primary as part of middle school. At this level, learners have a broad curriculum and they are given an opportunity for experimentation & exploration.
In addition to the integration of ICT in the subjects, learners also have a pastoral program which is conducted once per week.
Subjects Covered include English, Agriculture, Social Studies, Kiswahili or Kenya Sign Language (for learners who are deaf), Home Science, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Physical and Health Education, Religious Education (IRE/CRE/HRE), Creative Arts, Optional subject-Foreign Languages (Arabic, French, German, Mandarin).
Pupils at this stage aside from thoroughly going through the primary curriculum are actively involved in creativity-enhancing activities, problem-solving, and innovation as well as talent exploitation. They are also engaged in more sporting activities, field trips, debates, music and drama festivals, clubs, and societies.
4. Junior Secondary School (CBC grade7, grade 8, and grade 9)
Junior secondary exposes the students to a wide-based curriculum to allow them to discover their own capabilities, character, and potential. Learners choose subjects as per their interests and career paths as they join senior secondary. At this level, learners will also be involved in career guidance to enable them to make informed career decisions as they prepare to join senior secondary.
Core Subjects
Learners are obligated to take the twelve core subjects i.e Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, or Kenyan Sign Language for learners who are deaf, Pre-Technical and Pre-Career Education, Integrated Science, Social Studies, and Agriculture, Health Education, Life Skills Education, Sports, Physical Education, and Business Studies.
Religious Education – learners choose one of the following:
i) Christian Religious Education.
ii) Islamic Religious Education.
iii) Hindu Religious Education.
Optional Subjects
Learners are given a chance to select a minimum of one and a maximum of two subjects according to character, skills, interests, and career selections from Visual Arts, Home Science, Performing Arts, Computer Science, Foreign Languages, French, German, Arabic, Mandarin, Kenyan Sign Language, and Indigenous Languages.
More emphasis is focused on their academic progress at this stage to ensure the highest academic achievement. Discipline, good behavior, and self-confidence are nurtured. The students also engage in co-curricular and sporting activities which include: Ball games, athletics, indoor games, Music and Drama, Debate, Environment, and Community service among others.
